The acknowledgment underscores the significant contributions and enduring impact of Advani’s efforts on the progress and growth of the nation.
Lal Krishna Advani, the BJP candidate known for his pivotal role in the party’s national rise. During the early 1990s Rath Yatra for Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor.

“I am very happy to share that Shri LK Advani Ji will be conferred the Bharat Ratna. I also spoke to him and congratulated him on being conferred this honor,” PM Narendra Modi wrote on X.
During the announcement of the honor for LK Advani, Prime Minister Modi highlighted Advani’s monumental role in India’s development, describing him as one of the most respected statesmen. Modi commended Advani’s journey, starting from grassroots work to serving as Deputy Prime Minister. Acknowledging Advani’s contributions as Home Minister and I&B Minister, Modi praised his exemplary parliamentary interventions, marked by rich insights.
Who Is LK ADVANI
Born in Karachi, LK Advani migrated to India following the Partition and made Bombay his home. Beginning his association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at the age of fourteen in 1941. Advani embarked on a journey that would significantly shape his political career.
In 1951, LK Advani joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, founded by BJP icon Syama Prasad Mookerjee, which later evolved into the BJP. Advani, a key figure in the party’s founding, began his political career with the Jana Sangh.

His political journey saw him becoming a Rajya Sabha member for the first time in 1970, serving four terms until 1989. Advani held the positions of Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha after the Janata Party’s triumph in the 1977 general elections.
As one of the BJP’s founding members, he served as the party’s president on three occasions. In 1989, Advani secured his first Lok Sabha membership.
During Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government in 1999, Advani took on the roles of Minister of Home Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister, contributing significantly to the administration.
